This month, I have taken up a part-time position at the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education (OUDCE) as Departmental Lecturer in Environmental Science to provide cover as acting course director for the Postgraduate Certificate in Ecological Survey Techniques while the post holder is on study leave for 6 months.

The role includes overseeing the online course, liaising with tutors, markers and administrative staff. The PGCert is Ecological Survey Techniques is open for students wishing to develop their practical skills in an academic setting to use in careers such as in ecological consultancy, environmental conservation or as a stepping stone for further postgraduate education. The course consists of a face-to-face in week, two online mandatory modules (vegetation survey and data analysis) and two out of four optional online modules (survey modules in birds, mammals and reptiles, fish and amphibians and invertebrates) and a piece of independent field research.

You can read more about the course here.

Each of the modules can also be taken by interested students as stand-alone modules.
